Blind & Deaf Dog Senses Dad’s Home Unfolding Into Heartwarming Reunion Taking Internet By Storm

Every year there are way too many unloved dogs that end up at the animal shelter.

The lucky ones are quickly adopted out, especially if they’re cute and friendly.

But, some pooches end up languishing in a doggy cell for weeks or months because they came into the shelter with a lot of previous baggage, which some pet parents just don’t want to deal with.

Let’s not forget about the unfortunate senior doggy’s – with their shorter life span and laundry list of expensive medications, this makes most people write them off.

Finally, we have the real underdogs of the doggy shelter world – the disabled, blind, and deaf ones, like sweet little Opal Bray.

8-month old Opal had a double whammy going against her, because she’s both blind and deaf.

Being a cute puppy didn’t save her from the fact that most people just didn’t want to take a special needs pet like her home.

Thankfully, Christine Bray and her husband Forrest could see that this Double Merle was special in more ways than one.

Double Merle’s like Opal have a propensity towards deafness and blindness due to their genetic makeup.

Although she was born without the ability to see or hear, her sense of smell seems to be heightened.

In fact, when dad Forrest comes home from work, she can immediately sense that he’s just around the corner, minutes before he arrives!

Opal has her own Instagram page, where her human mamma told all her fur-loving fans:

“She waits in the front yard and waits to either feel or smell his car idk how she can tell the difference because neighbor cars pull up and she doesn’t care.

She then smells him and goes crazy. It’s very sweet!!”

This crazy sweet moment is the family’s favorite new daily routine!

In the video, we can see Opal wag her tail and sniff the air.

As soon as she recognizes that special sweet scent that lets her known daddy is home, she excitedly bounces into action!

“This is my favorite part of the day. Yup. See, she knows.”

Even though it’s only been a few hours since she last saw her papa, Opal can’t help herself and totally flips out with joy when she “knows” that he’s just a few feet away.

The heartwarming moment that was captured on video has now gone viral, and folks everywhere are wiping away the salty tears and saying, “I’m not crying, you’re crying!” Opal may not be able to hear or see, but she has more than enough doggy sense to know a good thing when she smells it.

When no one else wanted to dig down far enough to discover this diamond in the rough, these proud puppy parents managed to find that one special furbaby who has the biggest heart of them all.
